ANYWAYS
I started another painting, this one of my kitty Artur. I'll upload the picture I'm painting of him. IT'S A PRETTY GOOD PICTURE I THINK. The painting is coming along pretty well.
Question though.
Is there any way that I can make an acrylic painting look like it was done in oils...? I ..am supposed to make an oil painting for my big school culminating project thing and I DON'T HAVE THE ABILITY TO DO IT.
You want to know why?
Because I paint ONE LAYER AT A TIME
And guess what
the paints I have take a week to two weeks to dry
PER LAYER
I lose interest in paintings REALLY fast. I didn't know that it would take that long to dry...I bought the paints before I found out that they each have certain drying times and it varies. The paints I bought had some of the longest drying times, of course. Fff.
So would like..mixing acrylics and oils make the drying time less? Or..do you guys know how I can just use acrylics?? I have a semi-textured canvas from then I tried to start a painting..I got 2 layers into it then just painted it over white. Wasn't liking it at all anymore.

Umm
I have no idea though if mixing to two together will make it dry faster..
maybe though you could paint some texture paste on first and then use acrylic over the top for an oil paint effect? Im not sure how much texture paste it though...
Sorry, Im not much help xD; Goodluck though~
ah thats awesome! I love looking through big sketch/spam/art dumps, they inspire and motivate me more than fully finished pieces haha
ee that would be fun putting together actually lol C:

i dunno how you can make them look like oils... when i paint with acrylics i mostly do it in different layers and washes... but my paint is so cheap that it doesnt matter how long it dries.
stick to acrylics, that's all I used for my paintings. It makes things alot easier when you have a handy dandy hair dryer with you to speed up the drying process.
I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN I'VE BEEN SO INSPIRED FOR THE LONGEST TIME TO do a dump sort of thing full of gifts for people, I just never had the time :boohoo:

You know I would paint it in acrylics first, then go over it with oils. I did that with my paintings, except, I started with watercolors, THEN went back in with acrylics because that's what we were required to use. My teacher could never tell the difference.

as for mixing the two DONT. they dont mix, acrylic is waterbased and oils are..oil based.
as for replicating an oil look in acrylic, there are a few thickening mediums, and mediums that can slow down acrylics drying time so you can mix more on canvas
