Hmm

Mon Jun 29, 2009, 5:26 PM
I know I want to go to college in Europe, I hate the US at the moment. It's going down the hole. Anyways, I was looking at colleges in Germany out of boredom while I was at my Aunts house with my Grandma, and there are a few that I actually really like ...and their tuition is nothing-2,000 a semester compared to 8,000 a quarter at AIU London. Plus if I were in Germany and anything ever happened, my dad has a friend who has family there and he said she could call them if I needed help. SO that makes me feel more comfortable with it. And I want to get into Illustration or painting..instead of Interior design because I want to get a job where I can paint/make backgrounds for animations (eg..DISNEY!!)

But theres a German proficiency test I have to take which sees how much German I know and decides whether I'm able to really..go to school there. All the testing places for that I've found are in Germany..which sucks because unless I get a few thousand dollars I can't really go there right now. So I have to e-mail the college and find out if I'm able to take that somewhere in the US. So if any of you know anything about German colleges which would be beneficial to me I'd like you to tell me. I've been looking into the Muthesius Academy of Fine Arts and Design ( [link] ). But if there are any other great art colleges in Germany you know of, or if you've heard bad things about the one I'm looking into then tell me! I'm more interested in colleges in Northern Germany simply because I've been learning German of that dialect and not what they speak in Southern Germany. Thanks!

Have you ever even been to germany? Europe is a BEAUTIFUL place. I'd know-I lived there most of my life. But it's not the fancy old la la land Americans make it up to be. 2,000 is MUCH harder to earn in germany than is the U.S.
If you're not fluent in German and if your parents are not going to pay for everything it's not a good idea. Otherwise, good luck. It sounds really fun.

On a side note, if you really wanna live in Europe, you should do so after graduating from an American university. That is what I'm gonna do ;)

You shouldn't worry about Americans killing their economy. If they do, the world is going down with them anyway.

Never been there but I want to. And after college I'd come back to the US to work and pay off my loans..which would be much less so it wouldn't be as hard. A few years at most. And I thought about moving there after I graduate from a University here but guess what...!! The schools I like costs as much as 30k+ a year so I'd rather spend 4k a year there on tuition and actually BE there.
